Behind The Design: Trivets

At etúHOME, we are very proud of our wooden trivets and the special characteristics each display from its past. Made of 19th-century timber, no trivet is the same making these pieces a unique addition to the modern kitchen. Today we are going to take a peek into the etúHOME factory where sustainable timber turns into beautiful serveware at the fingertips of talented European Artisans.

At our factory, you will find stacks of reclaimed wood, like pictured above, from aged buildings that will soon be repurposed into kitchen accents you will enjoy for years to come. Our trivets are created by fusing numerous planks together to form classic designs that make up our collection. Each step of the handmade process is performed by a different individual resulting in a product of true craftsmanship and care.

Once the body of the trivet has been created, the hand-carved wooden feet are added. The trivet is then finished with a protective plant-based, food-safe wax designed to endure the everyday wear and tear of life. The protective wax not only protects the reclaimed wood from natural weathering but showcases the raw and organic beauty of the grain.

The trivet is a staple to the etúHOME collection due to its versatility in the kitchen. It can be used for serving both hot or cold food and also looks great as a decorative accent on your countertops. Every kitchen needs a trivet to showcase its organic beauty, classic design, and functional use.
